June 6 – Mercer Raceway Park – USAC National Sprint Series
We have added the photos from the USAC National Sprint Series visit to Mercer Raceway Park on June 6. Cole Whitt took the checkers in a very good race. It was a bit dustier than perhaps I would have liked, but there wasn’t much to be done about that, given the very different way those goes race the track as compared to the regular winged sprints. I love the non-wing sprints; wish more of the USAC guys would have shown up, but still thankful for the ones who did. From talking to a couple of the USAC drivers, it seems that several of the no-shows were scared to travel this far to race on tracks they had never seen.
