Why are Professional Photographers so expensive?

We’ve been fairly fortunate in that most of our customers actually understand at least a little of what is involved in our shooting. But every once in a while, there is that one special person who thinks that because he can buy a camera for $100 and get his prints at Costco for a few pennies, that we should only charge what Costco does.

And in our case, add in the beating that our equipment takes at the dirt tracks we cover. Let’s face it, a dirt track is not an ideal environment for $5k cameras and lenses, and they don’t last nearly as long as they should.
